More Adventures

I think that my titles for my blog get worse and worse each time I write one! Oh well! I'm not very creative with blog titles! Well...I had a really busy week at Streetlevel because we took over the Welfare and the Salvo Store upstairs...so it has been really busy and fun at the same time!

My mom and my sisters arrive on Wednesday and I have a few days off to spend with them so that should be fun! And of course we will all go to Streetlevel church on Friday night which will be an adventure in itself...as it always is!

Today I just spent the morning hanging out at home and reading (yes I'll admit it) trashy magazines...you know the Aussie equivalent to People and US magazines...catching up on all my Brad and Angelina gossip! Sad...sad...I know but It was also relaxing. I also spent quite a while on the phone to one of my best friends Marnie and her beautiful girls. It was really fun to talk to them! Karrighan was hilarious because she answered the phone and then started talking to me and about five minutes into the conversation she turns to Marnie and goes..."Hey Mom, I'm talking to one of YOUR best friends"...Marnie told me after that she flicked her hair after she said it too! How cute is that! Love it! And Brooklyn sang "Open the eyes of my heart Lord" while Peter played it on the guitar...I was so blessed to hear it! Nothing better than talking to those Mitchell girls!

Tonight I went to the Salvation Army Congress Hall in Sydney and they were having a special Kids meeting and it was so beautiful! I actually started crying at one point...again sad...but I can't help it! And now tonight I am going out on the Internet Van...so that should be fun! Can't wait!

That's about it!

Good Times!

Denise, Cate and I had so much fun when they were here. This is the first time I've had since they left to write about it! We spent four fun-filled days together and we just laughed those really hurt your tummy kind of laughs and we saw quite a bit of Sydney. I did more touring around the city with them than I have the whole time that I've been here. It was so nice because Robbin gave me 2 1/2 days off to spend with them!

On Friday night we all went to Streetlevel Church which is my summer placement. We had such an amazing time and we were all really blessed. I will go and visit Cate in Melbourne before I head home. I am so excited about that!

Today was a busy day at Streetlevel but we had a nice surprise when Gary the director from our school stopped in to say hello. That was fantastic!

Last night I had to do my big "project" for my placement which was running a prayer night at the corps. It went really well and people had some really amazing breakthroughs! I was talking to Kim and told her I would steal some ideas from her prayer nights at 614...which I did and they went over great. I also came up with some other ideas on my own! It was a really great time of prayer.

Tonight I have another class for my Inner City Welfare course. I am looking forward to it because Robbin will be lecturing at this one on boundaries. We have already heard this lecture at the school...so I asked her if I could be Vanna White and write on the whiteboard for her...she's agreed to this!!!! Small things make me happy! Anyways must go and prepare for class!

Denise & Cate Come!

It's finally here! My first visitor to Australia to visit me! Cate and Denise fly in tommorrow night. I will be meeting them at the airport and I am super excited. This will be the 3rd visit that I've had with Cate since being in Australia! How exciting is that????? I am so excited! And to see Denise again will be amazing! I so can't wait! I have so much planned to do while they are here!

Today I was thinking a lot about people back home and how much I miss them...that's one reason why it will be so amazing to see Denise! Also now it is less than a month until my sisters and my mom come...so it's getting very close! I feel blessed that I can have visits from home while I am here! It is so great!

Well...I am getting ready to go out on the internet van until 1am tonight...it's late but it actually makes it the perfect timing to be able to call my friend Erin and actually get ahold of her...so in that regard I am super happy that I'm out on the van tonight. It is also a really great way to get to know people and let them know about Streetlevel and Oasis and any accomodations that they may need and stuff like that. I am sure some great opportunites will arise tonight.

Rugby Update!

Okay so...I have to admit that I actually really enjoyed the game! It was a great game and "my" team won...not that I really have one...but the blues did win 32-10! Queensland only scored right near the end of the game and I was so upset because I thought it would be so funny if they got no points. Although I have to admit that I was being blamed because at one point I said that maybe we should just give Queensland a sympathy point. I actually did not end up going to Paul and Robbins but went over to Justine's who is a personal support worker at Streetlevel and hung out with her and her daughter and another woman from the corps named Linda. It was tons of fun...we finished watching Matilda with Chelsea before she went to bed and then we ordered Pizza and watched the game. It was great! I know...it's hard to believe...but I actually watched the ENTIRE State of Origin Series....how funny is that?????

Boring Sporting Events!

Today I am privileged to go to a party to celebrate the State of Origin...Final Game. It's a HUGE thing in New South Wales (the state I live in) and Queensland (the next state over). They go mad about it over here. There are three games and the people in those states are crazy over this game. It's so hilarious. The first game I watched bits of it (well...enough to choose which team had the better looking guys on it!) at the school on the big screen with my classmates. The second game I watched at a pub because apparently the real Aussie experience is watching it at a pub with everyone going crazy. That was an interesting time because we watched it in a pub in New South Wales and my classmate Anita cheers for Queensland...and so was causing quite the disturbance in the pub. I thought that we might get beaten...maybe they were okay because NSW won! I don't really know. All I know is that the teams had equally good looking men on each and so I chose NSW for 2 reasons.... 1) I live there ... 2) Their jersey color is blue which matches my eyes better than the Queensland maroon color!
So tonight I am going to watch the final game at Paul & Robbin's house (they are the corps officers where I am doing my placement). The teams are tied so it should make for an interesting game. It is Rugby...which is a totally violent sport...they always look like they must be in pain! Oh well...it should be fun! I'm sure I will enjoy the game tonight :) GO BLUES! ...Just trying to look like I'm getting into it!
